Just like at the factory, Ashton watched Tristan’s awe as she looked at every detail, lightly brushing her fingers over fabric wallpaper that was from another era. She touched antique furniture, marveled at the coffered ceilings and crown molding.

She looked at Aston, eyes wide and sparkling. “This house is incredible,” she said. “I’ve always wanted to tour it.”

“Well, I have one more room to share,” Ashton said, taking Tristan’s hand and leading her out of the north dining room. “Saved the best for last.”

Bringing the pale hand within her own to her lips, she left a kiss on her knuckles before releasing the hand. With a side glance to the woman standing in anticipation next to her, Ashton grabbed the handles to the double door and, with a flourish, pushed them open.

She wasn’t disappointed by Tristan’s reaction as she gasped, eyes wide as she took in the seemingly endless supply of books, shelf upon shelf upon shelf filled to the brim.

“Oh my god,” she whispered, hands coming up to cover her mouth. She looked at Ashton as if she were silently asking, Are you seeing this, too? “Can I…?”

“Go ahead,” Ashton said, waving her on. “Look around.”

Like a bee pollinating flowers, Tristan buzzed to this bookshelf then to that bookshelf, stopping to admire a sculpture before buzzing on up to the second floor. Ashton stood down by Shakespeare watching, amused, enamored, and enchanted.

“This is absolutely my Beauty and the Beast moment,” Tristan called down from the second-floor railing.

Ashton grinned up at her. “Would that make me the Beast?”

Tristan’s face transformed into the little vixen that turned Ashton on in a heartbeat. “You certainly were when we got back from the factory.”
